Xin Xia
Xin Xia is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and researcher whose career bridges China and the Netherlands. She began her formal training in China, earning a Bachelor's degree in Decorative Art Design from Nanjing Arts University in 1999. She continued her studies in the Netherlands, receiving two Master's degrees—one in Visual and Media Art from the Dutch Art Institute (2002), and another in Film Studies from the University of Amsterdam (2003).
Xin Xia’s creative and academic practice spans the fields of visual art, film, architecture, interaction design, and cognitive psychology. Her work often investigates the relationship between perception, space, and embodied experience, informed by a deep interest in interdisciplinary methods. In addition to her artistic practice, she has been actively involved in several international exchange initiatives, collaborating with art academies, universities, and cultural organizations on cross-disciplinary projects.
Her exhibitions have been presented in China, Germany, and the Netherlands, and her writings explore topics in art education, spatial design, and embodied cognition.
In 2018, building on her years of teaching experience, Xin Xia founded Yuanfang Art Studio, an independent art education space dedicated to fostering creativity and visual literacy in both children and adults. Since its founding, the studio has become a platform for imaginative exploration and artistic growth.
